Boys Beating Cancer - our turn to race for life

Sawtell Photography is proud and honoured to support Boys Beating Cancer - our turn to race for life .

Having run "Race for Life" for many years,  I was very keen to support a friend when they established the 5k male only race in July 2011 at Newbury Rugby Club in Newbury, Berkshire.

My husband signed up for the event only to realise afterwards our daughter was getting christened that afternoon, so he had to get round the course in under 30 minutes or he would have been late... luckily for him he made it on time.

in 2012, I introduced my 5 year old daughter to the 5k challenge and she ran with me for the first time.  I thought it was important for her to understand the value and importance of raising funds for Cancer Research whilst having fun and getting some exercise.

This year I was asked by Rob Dore, one of the founders, to capture the event for them and these can be found on my Facebook page, which was an honour and great fun, not just for me but for all the runners and supporters.

There were nearly 300 men running, jogging or walking this year all to raise money for the charity, some in fancy dress and nearly all wearing the trademark "pink bow tie"

My husband ran again and this year he was cheered on by both our daughters, who were very proud when "Daddy" showed them his medal.

In 2013, approximately 400 men and boys (some as small as 3) participated in the even and hopefully raised nearly £20,000 (Not yet confirmed)

Why not "like" their Facebook page Boys Beating Cancer to be kept up to date with race details and other events.

I will be supporting the event again in 2014 and look forward to taking more pictures of amazing people crossing the finish line ...
